Kosas’s New ‘Skin Enhancer’ Is Basically Sunshine in a Bottle—Here’s What It Looks Like on 5 of Our Editors

Image
Kosas dominates the your-skin-but-better makeup category. All of the its products are lightweight yet effective, and give your complexion the perfect boost while still allowing you to look like yourself. And founder Sheena Zadeh-Daly brought this same energy into the brand’s latest product, the Glow I.V. Vitamin Infused Skin Enhancer, which leaves your skin with a gorgeous, shimmery glow. “I’ve always loved the benefits of a Vitamin IV Drip, and thought, ‘What’s a way to bottle that healthy glow I feel after I get a treatment, and make it a super easy step to an everyday makeup routine?'” says Zadeh-Daly. “Like everything at Kosas, I wanted to bring together the benefits of active skin-care ingredients with the beautiful glow and luminosity of a more radiance-focused offering.” The Kosas Glow I.V. Vitamin Infused Skin Enhancer ($38) is made with three key ingredients: Vitaglow-D, a botanical complex that enhances luminosity and hydration; glutathione, a tripeptide brightening ...

This Is the Part of Your Life Where You’ll Have the Most Luck in February, According to Your Zodiac Sign

Image
Astrologically speaking, February is poised to be a pretty smooth-sailing month across the board, thanks to the fact that no planets will be retrograde (meaning they’ll all be moving in apparent forward motion). Also on the cosmic curriculum, however, are a few highlights—like the romantic Venus-Neptune conjunction—that will influence the vibe on certain lucky days in February for each zodiac sign. To get specific, the way that these different transits align in the sky will offer each zodiac sign an opportunity to supercharge a particular realm of their life this month, be it love, money, career, or another arena. To learn which domain(s) of your life could get a cosmic boost in February, scroll to both your sun sign (aka the sign you’d read a horoscope for and the one indicating your core identity) and your rising sign (the sign that reflects how you show up in the world). For each zodiac sign, you’ll find intel on how you can expect your lucky days to manifest in February, how yo...

How To Recreate One of Dr. Dennis Gross’s Famed Skin-Firming Facials at Home

Image
Poke around any beach town in America, and you’ll likely be confronted with at least a dozen kitschy signs that read, “The cure for anything is salt water .” While I think we can all agree that the quote is undeniably cheesy (I’m pretty sure it was at the bottom of my AIM profile at some point circa 2002), if you ever dove into the ocean while you’re sad, hungover, or some combination of the two, you can also agree that it’s very, very true. It was this exact ideology that dictated the redesign of the Seawater Spa at Gurney’s Resort in Montauk, NY , a summer hotspot located at the tip of the Hamptons. In May of last year, the hotel unveiled a $20 million dollar renovation of its iconic spa, which not only overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, but also harnesses its powers. The new “wellness destination” features a full salt-water bathhouse that includes four pools (two hot, two cold), all of which are fed with natural seawater. To top it all off, Gurneys partnered with famed dermatologist De...

Meet the Organization That’s Breaking Down Barriers for Women of Color in the Outdoors

Image
Missy Wilson, a mother and adventure seeker, loves heading to the great outdoors. But it’s long been a fraught experience. For years, whether she was going camping or canoeing, she often found herself to be the only Black person around. She’d sometimes meet white people on trails or campgrounds who would assume she was new to the outdoors and didn’t know what she was doing, so they’d decide that they needed to explain things to her. Wilson’s experience of being alone and othered is far from unique. According to the National Health Foundation , nearly 70 percent of people who visit national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges are white. And in a 2018 report , data collected by the National Park Service Visitor Services Project showed that less than 2 percent of national park visitors were Black. Yet Wilson was determined to find a community that welcomed her. And in 2021, she discovered just what she was looking for: Black Women Who Kayak+ (BWWK+). Founded by Tanya Walker, a certif...

‘I’m a Friendship Coach, and Here Are 4 Misconceptions That Are Keeping You From Better Friendships’

Compared to romantic relationships, friendships tend to have fewer milestones and guardrails. For a couple of examples, folks tend to apply the trope of the DTR chat (aka the conversation where you define the relationship ) more often in a dating context than in a platonic one—despite the fact that any relationship can benefit from mutual expectations . And statuses like “dating,” “significant other,” and “married” don’t have precise friendship equivalents; even if you call someone a “ best friend ,” chances are you never formally committed to the role. The result is a whole lot of murkiness that leaves room for friendship mistakes and misconceptions. In the absence of clear “rules” or distinctions, many folks make assumptions about friendships, often informed by pop culture. For example, movies and TV shows might lead us to think that we must have a singular “best” friend through life or that great friendships don’t involve much emotional labor—but neither could be further from the t...

‘I’m a Barista, and This Is the Exact Coffee-To-Water Ratio To Follow To Make the Best-Quality Cup of Coffee’

Image
Honestly, why does coffee shop coffee always taste better than what I’m capable of brewing at home? Whether it’s the super-fresh beans they roast, the fancy equipment they have access to, or the fact that baristas are obviously way more knowledgeable about coffee than the vast majority of us, coffee shop coffee never fails to check every box. But like most things in life, there’s always room for growth, and cultivating our ability to brew a mean batch of coffee at home is something we can strive for with guidance—and eye-opening tips—from industry experts . Most recently, we spoke with Jiyoon Han, co-owner and founder of New York-based coffee company Bean & Bean , who shared the ideal golden coffee-to-water ratio for making a perfectly well-balanced cup of coffee at home. What’s the ideal “golden” coffee-to-water ratio for the best-quality coffee? According to the National Coffee Association of the USA , the “golden ratio” of coffee to water for a cup of joe is one to two tabl...

One Shopper Says Calls This Serum ‘Botox in a Bottle’ for Her 60-Year-Old Skin—And It’s Finally Back in Stock

Image
When Merit Beauty—the brand that’s pretty much synonymous with gorgeous, minimalist makeup—dropped its first-ever skin-care product last fall, the no-makeup makeup girlies (myself included) went nuts. Because like the name suggests, the Great Skin Serum ($38), is actually glow-y, lit-from-within skin in a bottle. It hydrates, plumps, and preps skin for a smooth makeup application . The holy grail serum is so good, in fact, it’s racked up over 1,000 reviews on Sephora and its DTC site combined, earning it a near 5-star rating. Everyone had to get their hands on it, which is why Great Skin inevitably sold out around the holidays. The good news, however, is that it’s finally back in stock. So, if you’ve been Great Skin-curious, now’s the time to order a bottle for yourself before it sells out again. Merit Beauty, Great Skin Serum — $38.00 Reviewers (and Well+Good editors ) have spoken—the Merit Beauty Great Skin Serum is 100-percent worth the hype. Key ingredients: hyalu...

Found: The Vitamin C Pro-Collagen Serum That Revived My Dead-of-Winter Skin *and* Made My Complexion More Smooth and Plump

Image
Winter has been a menace to my skin and overall wellness. Between the cold weather outside and the heater going full force inside my apartment, I feel like a walking piece of beef jerky (sorry for the visual). I’m straight-up dried and dehydrated. Unsurprisingly, the lack of hydration has resulted in some not-so-cute moments for my skin. One being that my complexion is dull and tired-looking, and no amount of bronzer or blush has been able to help. Aside from giving myself a reality check on how much water I was drinking (not enough), I took a long, hard look at my current skin-care routine to see if there was any area that needed some improvement, and I realized—gasp—I hadn’t been using a vitamin C  serum. I knew I needed one and I needed it fast. After all, vitamin C is a powerhouse. “It’s a superstar skin-care ingredient and antioxidant,”  Mona Gohara, MD , a board-certified dermatologist based in Connecticut  previously told us . Gohara suggests the ingredient to he...

How To Become a Yoga Instructor (In-Person or Online), According to a Yoga Instructor

Hey! I’m Angelica. I know you read my name in the byline but I need to reintroduce myself as the other half of my Hannah Montana life (aside from a writer) for this story. So… Hey! I’m Angelica the yoga instructor and you’re watching Disney Channel. Okay, you’re not, but you are reading this post in hopes of becoming a yoga instructor, so let’s dive in. Before I tell you how to become a yoga instructor, I’m going to share a bit about myself. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2016—vinyasa and yin are my bread and butter. Fun fact: I taught a variety of dance styles for years before that. (Yes, I’ve lived several lives at this point.) Currently, outside of writing, I’m still teaching around New York City and online. Where? Y7 Studio , Form+Flow , HealHaus , Core by Hyperice , and OMstars , to name a few places. As someone who’s taught both full time and part time, I’ve experienced many corners of the yoga teaching world and am excited to share with you how you can get started on your own...
